Job description:
The Senior Geo-environmental Engineer will report to the Principal Geo Engineer and the Divisional Director, and will play a lead role in the development of the team and workload in regeneration.
Key elements of the role include:
1 Prepare investigation, sampling and testing strategies
2 Supervise graduates on:
· Desk studies and reconnaissance of sites.
· Preparation of site investigation contract documents
· Site supervision of investigations
· Monitoring of ground investigation installations
· Prepare basic interpretations of investigations, preparation of conceptual site models risk assessments
3 Define the scope and approach to quantitative risk assessments
4 Prepare design approaches, undertake calculations and prepare design drawings.
5 Prepare interpretative reports
6 Prepare options and validation reportsCandidate specification
Essential qualifications, experience, competencies and skills:
BSc Engineering Geology / Geology / Environmental Geology / Civil Engineering.
6yrs industry experience gained with a contractor or consultant
Experience and exposure to a range of geotechnical engineering design solutions in a range of project types, i.e., buildings and infrastructure.
Experience of quantitative risk assessment.
Ability to deliver projects successfully within set deadlines.
Computer-based analysis using off the shelf software.
Are able to positively advise other disciplines regarding aspects of their design as it impacts geotechnical engineering issues.
Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
Capable of leading a geo-environmental team.
Ability to mentor graduates.
Ability to write and speak in English fluently.
Desirable qualifications, experience, competencies and skills:
MSc Geotechnical Engineering / Hydrogeology / Environmental Science.
10yrs relevant experience with a range of backgrounds and types of work.
Experience of developing a team.
Experience of project management.
Experience of regeneration projects.
Analysis using Slope-W, DIPS, Swedge and the like.
Chartered Engineer.
Strong IT skills ideally with AutoCAD experience.
Ability to listen, consult and communicate proactively.
Ability to establish good relationship with staff and clients.
