Summary

Within the Water & Environmental Management division, and Environment subdivision, our clients Environmental Planning team is growing steadily and they anticipate significant further growth in future years. They place a strong emphasis on achieving a balance of environmental benefits within infrastructure projects as part of the early planning or EIA process.

We are seeking a well qualified, experienced and motivated socio-economist with experience in socio-economics assessments related to development to develop services for EIAs of major infrastructure projects.

Job description:

The successful candidate will report to the Environmental Planning manager to market environmental and socio-economic services, and provide inputs to tenders to projects in the UK and overseas.

Candidate specification:

a degree in a relevant subject, and preferably a postgraduate qualification in socio-economics or similar;

8+ years' experience of socio-economic impact assessment at least some of it in consultancy;

experience of transportation and, particularly, highways projects;

experience of giving evidence at public inquiries would be an advantage;

experience of public consultation and presenting at or managing public meetings is essential;

experience of working in developing countries ;

high standards of oral and written communication, including presentations;

a track record of business development and project management;

excellent IT skills, particularly for presentations and marketing materials;

willingness to travel and work at various locations within the UK and overseas;

full driving licence.
