Summary

Our clients office in Tyneside is being expanded to house a multi-disciplinary team, providing a range of consultancy services to support various Power Stations and other potential markets in the North-East of England. An opportunity exists for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take a lead role in the team. In addition to technical support, the role will involve assistance in the development of the team, project and bid management as well as managing client relationships.

 


Key Responsibilities:

1. Successful execution of high quality engineering work to time, quality, budget and customer satisfaction
2. Carries out feasibility/option studies and to provide cost effective design solutions to customers’ challenges
3. Provides accurate estimates and technical specifications of engineering work for proposals/tenders, and manages engineering work within associated project budgets, including anticipation of technical risks and developing approaches to manage these risks
4. Maintains successful working relationships with existing contacts in client organisations and develops new contacts and opportunities for new business
5. Acts as Responsible Engineer for projects as required
6. Maximises the profitability of all work by ensuring that it is carried out efficiently and effectively
7. Maintains a technical knowledge and competence in a field of expertise, which is recognised by clients, and seeks to develop skill portfolio
8. Supervises and provides mentoring and training for staff, as required


Essential Qualifications:

Applicants should ideally be qualified to a minimum standard of HNC/HND or degree level or hold an appropriate equivalent professional qualification.


Experience Required:

Knowledge and experience of mechanical handling systems / mechanical services. Proven track record of delivering results within a mechanical engineering function. Experience of dealing directly with clients, and taking responsibility for project delivery.

Desirable experience:

• Knowledge of nuclear industry regulatory requirements.
• Experience of nuclear safety cases.
