Safety Case Authors required to write and/or assess nuclear safety cases produced to support the implementation of nuclear power station plant modifications. The work will be primarily based in Cheshire but the role may require you to work for short periods within clients' offices.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review nuclear safety cases. Preparation/verification of safety documents. Comply with company and clients' QA requirements. Act as the point of technical contact for clients, including technical officers, project managers and site engineers. Identify requirements for safety case supporting studies, and commission as necessary. Provide input into site/project strategies. Assist in the technical aspects of the production of quotations, bids and tenders from pre-qualification through to formal tender. More experienced staff will be required to mentor/supervise less experienced staff
Essential Qualifications:
Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, physics, mathematics or similar technical discipline.
Desirable Qualifications:
Achieved or working towards Chartered status. Client safety case management qualification to Author/Verifier Category 2 or higher, or equivalent.
Experience Required:
Ideal candidate will have a good general understanding of nuclear power generation. Knowledge of nuclear power station safety systems and balance of plant. An understanding of nuclear safety principles and their role and application within the nuclear industry. Experience in one or more of the following areas: probabilistic and deterministic risk assessment, radiological safety, safety cases, hazards assessment, ALARP assessment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. A proven record in customer relations. Familiarity with client safety documentation and safety case management processes is desirable but not essential . Safety case engineers from hazardous industries will also be considered
